Choose a time to plant cymbidium
"Nine Moon spread". In the common sense that means September (lunar calendar) is the most suitable time to plant Cymbidium. It can be explained that: at this point, the new sprouts of the cymbidium are fully developed. Cymbidium has formed. The leaves have fully divided and accumulated nutrients in preparation for the flower. Trees start during the holiday season. Another advantage of splitting orchids in September is that, if you branch at this time, the rate of flowering is low, the plant will develop higher buds. Therefore, for the purpose of rapid propagation, it is possible to have cymbidium tubers that multiply 2 times a year. However, on the contrary, it must be acceptable to quit playing flowers during this extraction.

The above analysis indicates the best time to apply an effective orchid cultivation. However, at present, forest orchids are traded all year round. We can buy them to plant at any time. So to achieve the effect we must treat the seed carefully according to the following steps.

How to treat cymbidium before planting
First remove part of the growing material from the surface of the pot. Then tilt the pot slightly, using your hands to pat the pot vigorously around the pot to let the growing material off. Once the roots are out of the pot and the growing medium, gently pull the orchid clump out of the pot.

Using sharp scissors, cut off the rotten roots, cut 3-4 cm deep into the rotten part, trying to keep the roots fresh. If the planting material has white fungus or mold, it is necessary to rinse the roots of the plant. Absolutely not washing too clean will lose symbiotic bacteria on the roots.

Normally, we should only separate each cluster of 3 units so that the tree can thrive. However, if you want to propagate quickly, you can separate each stem. Provided that separate stems must be completely healthy, free from pests and diseases and have live roots.

Note should apply glue or lime on the cuts to avoid pathogens. Then let the new orchid separate into a shady place for half a day to a day before planting.

In the case of newly purchased Cymbidium or newly separated and discovered that the plant has a fungus, it should be treated before replanting by: cutting all roots, leaves affected by fungus, removing old rots, soaking the whole plant. spread into a fungicide solution such as Ridomil (3g / 1 liter of water) for 15 minutes, then bring to dry for several hours, soak with a dilute growth stimulant such as B1, Atonic, ... within 15 minutes, Leave to dry again, the next morning can be replanted.

How to choose orchid pots
Requirements for orchid pots need to ensure some of the following factors:

- Suitable: what plant pots must be suitable for that plant type, so that the balance is in harmony with the whole plant. Cymbidium pots must also be suitable for orchid garden area, do not choose too big pots while the area is too small, do not use too big pots to plant a small orchid, ...

- Aesthetic properties: The beauty of the orchid tree is reflected in the shape of the tree, the shape of the leaves, the morphology of flowers and the fragrance. Therefore, the Cymbidium potted must also be sure to honor the beauty of the orchid plant.

- Ensuring the growth of the plant: every pot must ensure drainage, and contain enough substrate for the plant to grow in the best way. If the pot has a small drainage hole, you can drill more holes in the bottom of the pot or the wall of the pot so that water can drain easily after watering, avoiding waterlogging for orchids.

- Other factors: Depending on the purpose of growing Cymbidium, choose the right pot for planting. Growing commercial orchids should choose orchid pots with reasonable prices, reasonable. Enjoy orchid growing to choose from beautiful pots ...

If grown with terracotta pots or ceramic pots, soak in water for 1 day before planting, to avoid the terracotta pots or dry ceramic absorbing water back from the substrate, affecting the growth of orchids.

How to make cymbidium planted
Cymbidium can be grown with many different types of substrate such as: soil clump, coal slag, charcoal, rice husk, stone, peanut shell, pine bark, stems, soft, ... Basically, the substrate must ensure love. pray that it is always "HUMAN but not WET". This is the most important rule in how to choose a cymbidium growing medium. Currently I grow orchid with many different substrates. One of them is wholesale honeycomb, pumice stone, peanut shells, sometimes smoked husks. One way to make the base that I often use is as follows:

Old fire-old honeycomb charcoal is burned, please go home and use a blunt knife to chop it up. Use a basket with a hole about 0.8-1cm to sieve and discard small pieces and debris. Just taking a larger one can be as big as an egg. All put in a bucket or tub soaked in water for 1 night to fill with water. Rinse with a hose to flush out any debris surrounding these coal pellets. Finally, drain the water and plant it. You can grow orchid 100% using this coal slag. Or you can mix arbitrarily pine bark + coal slag + smoked peanut shell. Place the big type on the bottom of the pot for ventilation, then put the plant into the small one. On the top of the pot, choose a few big round balls to arrange them beautifully. Details of planting are as follows:

How to grow orchid
Step 1: Put large coal in the bottom of the pot to allow for easy drainage when watering. Continue to add the prepared substrates to half of the pot.

Step 2: Place the pineapple on the orchid in the middle of the pot. Pay attention to the development direction of the orchid plants facing the pot. Arranged as a rule, the old pineapple turned to the heart, the young pineapple facing the mouth of the pot. Doing so when the sapling splits from the old clump will grow out the pot edge.

Step 3: Fix the orchid tree by plugging the bamboo stick, and tie the branch into that stick, evenly distributing the orchid clusters on the pot surface. Continue to insert the substrate gently around the root of the orchid from bottom to top. Just like that until gradually flooded up near the base of the orchid. Requirements of orchids when planting in pots and for the substrate must ensure that the substrate covers roots and tubers floating on the substrate. Avoid soaking tubers in the substrate, easy to rot due to fungal diseases.

Step 4: Water the orchid pots. Place the planted cymbidium in the shade, avoid the sun for 1-2 weeks absolutely. Every day dilute B1 dilute 1cc for 5 liters of water and spray moisture to stimulate the roots quickly. During this time, absolutely do not apply any fertilizer (within about 2-3 months).

How to take care of orchids
When you see that after planting cymbidium has rooted, sprouted, and stretched back (after about 1 month), you can move the plant to the normal care position with other orchids. Do not use fertilizer for plants when the plant has not grown back. Tree care should now master the following conditions:

Water the orchid
How to water the orchid very leisurely, just remember to wait for the cymbidium to dry and then water. You know that! the role of dry it's so important that wet. If watering every day, surely the plant will rot and die. When it dries, the roots will need water, while the moisture it is at the bottom of the pot, so the roots will have to grow to get moisture and water. Therefore, new irrigation will help the roots grow.

To find out when the substrate dries, simply stick your hand in the 5cm-sized rack. If the planting medium is wet, do not water, if it is dry, water. When watering, water the outside of the pot where the root system is located. Water slowly until the water drains out of the perineum. Note not to water the tubers, it is easy to die.

Fertilize the orchid
Regarding fertilizers, we often use organic fertilizers such as fish manure or chicken manure pellets to fertilize orchids. Mix with water the rate of 15g / 10 liters of water to irrigate, water once every 10 days. In addition, combining multi-medium fertilizers and micronutrients according to the growth cycle.

In the early stage of planting, plants begin to germinate until they are fully developed, and a higher amount of N is required. During the flowering preparation phase, a fertilizer with a slightly higher amount of P and a slightly lower K should be used to give the plant sufficient nutrients to create buds and flower.

The cold winter months should reduce the amount of fertilizer to once a month. combine organic fertilizers and chemical fertilizers. Particular attention is paid during the growing time of flower buds, absolutely do not use foliar fertilizers because the fertilizers on flower buds are easy to spoil the flowers.

Pest and disease control for orchid
With the application of orchid growing. I just prevent the disease, the environment must always be clean, fresh and cool. A month, spray lime water into the garden environment and orchids 1-2 times. When the humidity is high or mold, I spray Benkona, or physan. Now I don't spray anything else. When the plant is sick, it should be immediately isolated to avoid spreading. If it is clear that the disease needs to be treated with appropriate drugs, if it cannot, quit.

That is how to grow and care for orchids in my garden. Maybe there will be a lot of details, but please find out more on your own.
